About Billy Clift
Billy Clift – Writer/Director/Producer
Billy Clift has 20 years experience as a hair and make-up man for commercials, music videos, print, fashion shows (New York and LA ) and film which has him the sharp eye and perspective needed for filmmaking and film and video editing. In 1995, Billy’s closest friend and colleague Elizabeth Montgomery ” known best for Bewitched (TV Series 1964–1972)” was diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer. When she passed, Billy was devastated and was compelled to move out of LA, out of the industry and reflect on his life. First he wrote a book – “Everything Is Going To Be Just Fine – The Ramblings Of A Mad Hairdresser.” It was published in August 2000. Next, he was compelled to tell stories on film. In the summer of 2004 he wrote a screenplay for a short film that was adapted from one of the book’s chapters, The Fairy Tale. The Fairy Tale is about a gay king who rules over the land of Hollywood, losing everything, but eventually finding his heart and the man of his dreams. Billy directed, edited, and starred in it. The Fairy Tale premiered June 24, 2005 at the San Francisco LGBT International Film Festival. His next project was the documentary, “The Pure Eccentrics: San Francisco,” which premiered at a benefit for the San Francisco Architectural Heritage Society, on February 22nd 2007 at the Balboa Theater in San Francisco. His first feature film was Baby Jane? – a parody of the infamous Joan Crawford and Bette Davis film. Baby Jane? premiered at the Frameline Film Festival in June 2010. Billy continued to travel the film festival circuit with “Baby Jane?” until its DVD release in the summer of 2011. Billy is also directing/writing/producing and editing music videos for bands such as Ejector, SpekrFreks and grammy-nominated Fans Of Jimmy Century to name a few. Billy is principal of Just Fine Productions, which is now in post-production with his second feature film, I Want To Get Married, a comedy starring Matthew Montgomery (Redwoods, Socket) Peter Stickles (Shortbus) Ashleigh Sumner (Then Along Came Lola) and Jane Wiedlin (The GoGo’s). He is also in development with Kensington Entertainment with the bio pic of Montgomery Clift (his cousin), “An American Tragedy”, set for production in 2012. Billy has moved back to his hometown of Hollywood to continue his dream.
